Illness And Disease Invites You Back To Health And Wholeness
What's up again? I love speaking to you respectful rebels—those who want to go against everything the government says to do. If you do the opposite, you're probably going to be fine, right? So with that in mind, let's go against the grain a little.
People come to me with their illnesses, diseases, and challenges regarding their well-being, and I always say - there's only one disease we all have. So what is that?
The One Disease We All Have
Raymond Francis was clear in his book Never Be Sick Again: there's only one disease and it’s called cellular malfunction. Something at the cellular level isn’t working properly. I would expand upon that to say something isn't working in your soul, or your "self." Something is missing in your life, and something in your life has to go for you to grow toward your true, authentic self.
Dr. Pompa echoes this in his book Cellular Healing, where he says, "In order to get well, you have to fix the cell," and he's made it his mission to emphasize that one idea. The late Dr. Timmins wrote about this in his book Chronic Stress Response and taught me the five stages of illness from a naturopathic perspective.
The Five Stages of Illness
We all want to live in a state of pure balance and harmony—what's called homeostasis. If you want to add some spiritual mojo, you could call that the Garden of Eden, the realm of permanence, the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s that relative state of perfect harmony and balance within you or within your cells.
But in life, we get kicked out of that Garden of Eden and start living from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil—right and wrong—and that’s where duality and polarity come into play.
Stage One - Departure from Homeostasis
We aren’t trained to be sensitive enough to notice our so-called deviation from homeostasis, which is the first stage of illness. So what do we do? We continue on our path of ignorance and arrogance, and the pain gets bigger and brighter, pushing us into the second stage: the pathophysiological stage. Things start happening, but we brush them off as no big deal.
Stage Two - Pathophysiological
As we continue on this path of ignorance and arrogance—ignoring the things we’re doing that throw us out of balance—the problems grow. It's like banging your head against a wall and then asking me to take away the pain. The real issue isn't the pain; it's the act of banging your own head. There’s no empowerment in just soothing the pain if you're going to keep doing the same thing. That’s the one disease: we’re creating most of our own problems, and then we expect someone else to clean up the mess instead of rising above the problem ourselves.
Stage Three - Pathomorphological
Next, we enter the third stage, the pathomorphological stage, where the issues start to show up sub-clinically. Naturopaths can find these problems using various tests and diagnostics, but many people avoid the doctor because they don't want to know the truth. They don’t want to take responsibility, so they continue living in a way that upholds the belief that disease is inevitable and beyond their control—"F^ck it, I'm going to die anyway, so why not live however I want?"
Stage Four - Symptomatology
Then, we move into the fourth stage: symptomatology. This is when the symptoms become too loud to ignore, and we have to address them. This is where medicine intervenes, but by this point, you’re already four stages away from health. Most people don’t even see the path they’ve taken that led them away from true health. The disease process is really about the actions and choices you’re making that pull you away from that state of eternal bliss, harmony, or what positive psychologists might call "flow state."
Stage Five - Disease
When symptoms are treated, you’re just being patched up by doctors and sent back to the battlefield, but the real conflict is within you, not outside. Eventually, this leads to the fifth stage: the loss of homeostasis and the disease phase, where you’re essentially dying—though not quickly, but slowly over many years. People aren't living longer; they're dying longer. And that's what medicine is designed to do—keep you alive as long as possible because they need customers.
Healing is the Return to Homeostasis
The process of healing is about restoring yourself by making choices that bring you back to homeostasis. Pain is a beautiful reminder that something is off, and it’s pushing you to move toward balance. That's why almost everything I do in life goes against what society is doing. I call myself a "respectful rebel" for this reason, and I am holding you in my arms and my heart to inspire you to become one too, or a warrior for your wellness.
Key Takeaways
We all want to live in a state of homeostasis.
Learn the five stages of illness.
Healing is about making new choices.
Healing helps us to return to homeostasis.
Worrying about your health is only part of the problem. You haven't yet stepped into your divine feminine or masculine energy, and you haven’t reconnected with the source of life. Instead, you’re stuck in the Tree of Knowledge, and if you stay there, you’ll suffer. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use knowledge to navigate this plane of living; it just means we need to go beyond that to the source of love and life. Then, you can start to work towards curing yourself, what I call “doing the cure.”
This is a lot, but I hope it touches you in a way to inspire you to get out of your nonsense, stop banging your head, and start empowering your life so that you can become a warrior for your wellness.
