Nutrition 101 - Feed YourSELF First

What's up, gang? Are you respectful rebels? I love it. And to the warriors for your wellness looking to be inspired, I know you're yearning for it—I’ve been there myself.

This one's on nutrition, with a bit of a different take. I've done a few things on diet before, but this is Nutrition 101, which means you have to feed yourself first. And I don’t mean just your body; I mean your self—S-E-L-F. You know what that means? It means taking time to self-reflect on who you are in the world and nourishing who you really want to be. The ultimate nutrition for that is stillness and silence. Spend time alone in stillness and silence—however you want to approach that. It could be just taking a slow, intentional, energetic walk with a piece of paper and a pen to capture your thoughts.

You want to take note of how you’re showing up in the world and take back what you need to do to nourish who you want to be. Yes, that includes food, but for most people, it also includes rest—throughout the day, not just at night. It means slowing down enough to smell the roses, being fully present with your children, and entering their world without trying to manipulate them to fit into yours. That’s what I mean by feeding yourself first.

Once you’ve done that, you can focus on hydrating yourself with water, nourishing yourself with food, exercising, and all that. But until you get to that place where you understand your personal identity in the world and your love for yourself and life, that comes first.

A Framework for Nutrition 101

On a practical note, most people think of Nutrition 101 as, “What do I eat?”—the classic question, right? Let me give you a conceptual framework so you can be the artist of your own idea of nutrition.

Choose Nutrient-Dense Foods

For me, nutrition has to be nutrient-dense. That’s a classic. You don’t want to have to eat all day to get the nutrients you need. It should also be highly bioavailable—meaning that what you eat is a match for our physiology and anatomy. It has to be bioavailable to what our human physiology is designed for. Remember, we’re primal mammals - we have a mammalian body.

Find Low-Toxicity Foods

Next, you want to find foods with the lowest toxicity possible. You don’t want your food or beverages to be toxic, right? But how many people have been taught to poison themselves and each other? It’s crazy. We’ve been duped into not seeing the dark side of certain things that have toxicity. Marketing always highlights the benefits and the goodness but never the darkness. Do your research before you buy and be skeptical of marketing claims.

Consider Going Carnivore

Consider the polarity and duality at play, like with a vegan diet versus a carnivore diet. That’s a great question. Well, whatever the government gets behind, do the opposite. The government is pushing for a plant-based diet, veganism in schools, town meetings, and even in places like Paris, where they want to be predominantly plant-based. So, do the opposite, gang —100%—go carnivore just on that principle alone. Never mind the physiology principle.

You Don’t Need Carbs

Do you want to burn fat as a fuel source, or do you want to burn sugar as fuel? Here’s the thing: the human body does not require any carbohydrates in its diet. You’ve probably never heard that, but physiologically speaking, we don’t need carbohydrates. We have ways to break down proteins, fats, and other sources of sugar in our glycogen stores and our muscles. The body will make what it needs based on the demands you place on it. People have proven that time and time again. That doesn’t mean carbohydrates aren’t fun or that you can’t enjoy them, but physiologically speaking, you don’t need them.

Consider Raw Foods

Now, do you eat your food raw or do you eat it cooked and processed? Oh my God, the raw foodists and the cooks! Here we go—the big duality and everyone’s punching at each other. Let me ask you: what creature on the planet, what mammal, has a six-burner stove to make their meals? Do they need a potato, a starch, meat, a vegetable, a fruit, and a glass of wine? That’s for entertainment, folks, not for Nutrition 101.

Choose Organic vs. Processed

The processed food industry is the largest drug pusher in the world. Remember when I talked about toxicity? Everything in the processed food industry has a level of toxicity—even organic. Which brings me to the next point: do you eat organic or non-organic? Which came first? A thousand years ago, was there any non-organic food on the planet? No. It was introduced by the Rockefellers and the industrial complex. They wanted a product for commercialism, and they had scientists on the marketing team to dupe you. They pickpocket your attention.

So, the easiest way to understand Nutrition 101 is this: Is it God’s food or man’s food? The more you stray from God’s food, the more you start the process of losing homeostasis within your body and your connection to life.

I understand the dynamics that we’re in because organic food is more expensive, and non-organic is less expensive. That’s how they get us—the government uses your taxpayer dollars to subsidize the non-organic food industry because they’re all in bed together. It’s crazy.

Simplify Your Nutrition

To simplify, know your farmer—number one. Or, become a farmer—number two. That’s the biggest threat to the food industry, and it will supply you with nutrient-dense, higher bioavailable, lowest-toxicity food. And, you’ll have a better connection with the source of life, which is about nourishing yourself, coming full circle.

Key Takeaways

  1. Choose nutrient-dense, low-toxicity foods

  2. Choose organic and/or raw foods

  3. Consider going carnivore

  4. You don’t need carbs

That’s all I’ve got for you right now—just conceptually. Remember, you’re the artist of your own life. Every day you wake up is a new canvas. How you live your life that day is your art. What masterpiece are you going to create today by waking up and saying, “I’m going to nourish myself first, and then I’m going to be the artist of my own life today”? There’s no guarantee for tomorrow, so become a warrior for your wellness or a respectful rebel.
